Fordham Falls, Hoyas Roll

A combination of Villanova's fierce defense and a stready Bronx rain stymied the powerful Fordham offense in the 14-7 Wildcat win. http://www.villanova.com/sports/m-footbl/recaps/091215aaa.html

The Lions can't do anything about arranging similar weather for their game at Fordham this coming Saturday, but they should focus on how the Rams remain questionable against the run. Villanova's win was primarily the result of their ability to get key ground gains when they needed them.

In Washington, Georgetown smacked what looks like an entirely awful Marist squad, 34-7. http://www.guhoyas.com/sports/m-footbl/recaps/091215aaa.html

There weren't any major standout performances by any individual Hoyas, but it was clearly a good team effort. That effort was surely motivated in part by the fate of injured teammate Ty Williams who is now showing signs of slow recovery after breaking five veterbrae in a freak injury in Georgetown's season opening loss. The Hoyas take on Dartmouth at home next week before traveling to Wien Stadium for Columbia's home opener.

Jake, the Villanova HC is a good friend of Al's and was an important link with his relationship with Pete Pilling in bringing Al to Columbia. Hopefully Al is getting a download today. Even though the score was close, Villanova dominated on both sides of the ball, as seen by the stats for the game.

and I'm sure the Rams are going to be in a fine mood next week when we meet them.
Watch the injuries.

I am sure that the Columbia football players are as strong as the Fordham players.
