BREAKING: Harvard Picked to Win Title

The Ivy League football coaches preseason teleconference is just about over. But the preseason media poll is already out and it's rendering a bit of a split decision.

As you can see, while Harvard received the most total votes by just a hair, Penn received the most first place votes. Meanwhile, Dartmouth, Yale, and Princeton at 3rd-5th are separated by just four total votes.

Columbia was picked 7th, but the Lions received more than double the total votes than Cornell in 8th.

Media analyses like these are worthless. We will surprise a lot of people.

Based on my Ouija board assessment , I say Yale finishes ahead of Dartmouth.
The wild card team is ...Columbia !
Agree with Old Lion that we could surprise many !

This blogs faithful are by nature optimists....and last year the new.coaching staff gave us reason...fulfilling or surpassing expectations

This year i would caution us by not getting our expectations too far ahead of where we can realistically be.

Having said that, my dream for this season involves two non league wins and three league wins. Cornell a must and then both Yale at home and Dartmouth at homecoming. This is a stretch goal that if attained will make next years coaches poll look much different

They scrimmage BR on Sept. 3, per AD

My prediction is anywhere from 4-6 to 6-4. And amy such result will be wonderful.

Yes, too, this blog is "staffed" by optimists. Even when there's not much reason for optimism elsewhere. It's still fun to be a Columbia Lions fan. (And often more than that, as with sprig's great basketball run.

But who ia thia "BR" we'll be scrimmaging? Brookdle Community College in Monmouth County, NJ?

I am one of those hopeless optimists and will again fly from Hk to NY to see homecoming. Since my brother went to Dartmouth i live for the game when we beat them and i can publicly heckle my annoyingly green brother

5-5 is doable. anything over .500 would be eye popping. In fact, any big win(s) would have me on the edge of my seat.

Need to see what kind of readiness St Francis has coming into town as opener. Traditionally, they have no problem scoring points, not as dominant on D.

Georgetown is winnable. Wagner is winnable. Princeton, Yale, Cornell, Brown are all winnable.

Al has pointed out that all of our Ivy losses except for Penn were one possession losses. We are better offensively this year. So if the DL is up to the task I think anything is possible.

If we are.picking specific games, then i say Wagner and Cornell are "expect to win" games. Princeton, Yale, Georgetown and Dartmouth are "fully capable of winning" games. Harvard and Penn are "too tough games to win" and are both away. I have no clue about St Francis. And i put the brown game as a loss because never in my living memory have we beaten Brown in Providence.

Somehow in that thought process i get to a guess of 4 or 5 wins for the coming season

We should have beaten Brown by at least two scores last year. I think we can beat Brown, even at Providence.
