People are Funny

The world of sports offers thrills, fanaticism, and laughs.

I got a good laugh today when I saw that someone on Stubhub.com is selling tickets to the Fordham-Columbia opener for $63 each!

Just to clarify, the tickets he or she is selling go for $10 face value and many thousands are still for sale here.

If the person selling those tickets is reading this, I kindly offer you this space to make your case for the massive markup.

$10 is a great game day price. When you think about the trade off the University makes, the monetary losses of maintaining a stadium compared to drawing a crowd (which does not come remotely close to covering costs), I will give the Univ some credit for making that sacrifice to have a football program.

I will be paying $35 a month for the digital stream unless someone has a discount code I can use.

How about some more news out of training camp. Two deep? Any first years making an impact? Who looks like he has made off season strides? How is Nottingham throwing?

Fordham looks totally outclassed against Villanova. Down by 30 at the half.

Here is my take on Fordham, having watched the entire game on the streaming feed: they have excellent skill players but a very suspect OL and DL. They run a hurry up offense which is designed to put a lot of points on the board early. If they can be slowed down in their first few offensive possessions they, especially Nebrich, become very frustrated and try to force plays. Their excellent WR whose name I cannot remember drops balls if he gets hit hard over the middle. Their freshman running back is small and will go down if wrapped up. Without a crease he isn't fast enough to turn the corner. Villanova just socked them in the mouth from the first snap and even though the score was close at the time of the rain delay Fordham seemed totally outmatched. Their OL is enormous but very, very slow and was just destroyed by a smaller but much stronger Nova DL. Nova had a tiny slot receiver who just killed them coming out of his break. The Nova QB was very good and mobile enough to run when he had to, but he was pulled midway in the third quarter or else Nova would have to up 70 or 80; that is how dominant Nova looked.

Let's hope PM scouted Fordham as well as you did.

oldlion gets his wish; Fordham totally destroyed by V.

This loss is worse than what they hung on us last year.

Now if we can only sneak up on them ourselves.

O dominated yesterday's scrimmage again. Scored in every situation they faced. Freshman looking good? Colin Breckenridge and Briscoe. Nottingham is throwing lasers and the receivers are catching.

Big Dawg, from your lips to God's ear.

Any scouting report for the V vs F game would be completely unbalanced. Fordham basically gave up very early in the contest. There was a weather delay. Maybe they were tired being on the road or something else going on. The succession of killing blows was mid to late 1st half. Nebrich was either off his game or their OL was simply unable to protect him. He was throwing off the wrong foot, at ill advised angles and was picked off in horrible fashion. Columbia would never be able to replicate this since they will not put the same pressure Nova did on the OL and QB.
