Molina, Washington, and Durham Named Captains

The players have voted RB Cameron Molina, TE Nick Durham, and DE Chad Washington as their captains for 2015.

I just want to make two comments about this:

1) The choice of Washington is clearly the result of his stellar play in training camp. He impressed everyone, including the large number of players on the current roster who didn't previously know him because he was out of school last year. His choice as captain could be the first public chapter in an incredible comeback story.

2) The previous two coaching staffs seemed to do all they could to diminish the role of the captains and destroy this vital conduit for player advocacy. It was thus very encouraging to hear Head Coach Al Bagnoli describe how important he and the current staff considers the captain role to be.

Parallels between Washington and Wiley are intriguing.

Clearly these three are starters....any insights or informed guesses as to any other likely starting nods?

On the DL, we will see Washington, Padilla, Akinleye and probably JD Hurt, with Washington and Akinleye at DE. We go eight deep on the DL and unless Fordham runs a no huddle we can expect rotations to keep our guys fresh.

Looks about right, oldlion. JD Hurt is underrated, he has a nose for the ball. Lots of players to choose from for backups, we shall see, I hope we're healthy. Jake, any word on injuries?

By the way, did you see that Cieslak has been moved to fullback? Interesting!

Cue slam move us probably related to Cutler's apparent injury. I think one of the Conways is also lining up at FB.

Pardon the typo, should read "Cutler's injury..."

The Women's Basketball coach resigned ?
Sounds like chaos-

Any reports on how the O line is coming together? Any frosh as potential starters?

Oldlion, how about the amazing typo on "Cue slam"?
Did you mean "Cieslak"?

The OC did a video preview on the offense, along with Molina, which you can see at gocolumbialions.com. He seemed pleased but said something about a few injuries. We'll know more when we see the two deep.

Yes, I did mean Cieslak. I am blaming spell check. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

If the Women's BB coach resigned, I would chalk it up to Pilling doing some needed housecleaning. Their record these past years has been abysmal.

Ok. Watched the video. The OC speaks well of all three upperclassmen QBs. But we only have two. Confused.

Possibly signaling shared duties during games?

The new recruits are rated higher, barely, than Princeton's and Penn's.

Re: RLB

Which recruits are you referring to, class of 15 or 16?

Who rated them?

What about the other Ivy teams' recruits?

Class of 2019 rating for WBB; "Dan Olson Collegiate Girls Basketball Report"; it's on the AD site.

Note to my fellow Lions. Any time there is a good Spec article on football the usual wing nuts add comments which are offensive and unfair. I would urge that we follow the example of Big Dawg and fight fire with grace, dignity and passion in posting supportive comments so the guys on the team know we have their backs. As far as the wing nuts, they want to turn us into CCNY or NYU. Let them transfer.
