Participation Trophies

Below is an example of the kind of headline I hate the most from our athletic department

In other words: “Hey, we’re PARTICPATING!”

“Hey, Nobody Drowned in Warmups!”

“We’re the Champions of just Showing up!”

What we don’t see in these horrible headlines is that CU is currently 6th in the swimming competition. Also, the much-ballyhooed women’s swimming team totally bombed in the Ivy championships earlier this month. We didn't even finish in the top 3!

I’m sick of all of this mere celebration of showing up. Have the guts to tell it like it is in the headline and let us know we’re near the bottom of the league.

These kinds of stories/headlines add fuel to the fire for those of us who believe the administration only wants us to field teams and doesn’t really care if they win or not.

Let's talk about Alex Rosenberg instead. He has earned another hearty mazel, tov tonight in Hanover. He put 31 on Dartmouth and is a beast. Has to be POY.

The women's swimming team won every Ivy dual meet, beating Harvard for the first time in history.

Jake, it's insane to think that our AD doesn;t care if we win or lose. You've been hanging around the Fox dummies way too much.

The troll exposes himself. In more ways than one. Thank God for "the Fox dummies" who actually report what's happening instead of being stenographers for this guy's
hero, a two year Columbia drop-in who has sealed all his school records.and crippled this country.

I thought he was the troll but he was careful to balance his
support of the Dianne-Bolly Follies with a neutral remark now and then.

What a riot! I couldn't do any better and I'm a writer.

The other troll was entirely different. alawicius seems more like an eternal optimist!

"alawicius seems more like an eternal optimist." The number one requirement for Lion fans...without it, what's the point?

We're the eternal optimists or we wouldn't be here; the trolls are just covering the rear for Lee Bollywood.
Say, what happened to basketball? The refs stole our home game for Harvard and tonight AT Hah-vahd we lose by 33.

Just got what I assume is a form letter from Pete. I think it went to financial supporters of the program, based upon the way it is addressed. Talks up the incoming class and urges patience.

Men's tennis beat Middle Tennessee State.
