Two New Names and One Concern

Clay Caruso makes a tackle

My Google alerts emails rang twice yesterday with names of two new members of the football class of 2018.

One is 6-3 220 pound LB Clay Caruso from Strongsville HS in the Cleveland area.

You can see multiple highlight videos of Clay here.

Caruso would be the first Strongsville alum to play football for CU according to my database.

Caruso looks like a good player, but he needs to clean up his Twitter feed ASAP.

I'll leave it at that.

David Donovan

The second name is 6-3 231 pound DE David Donovan from Mainland Regional HS on the South Jersey Shore.

Donovan would be the first Mainland alum to come to CU football.

You can see his highlight video here.

Let's cut the kid some slack. He's a HS student, a product of his generation having some online fun. He'll mature. His character is needed in a locker room that only knows defeat. The new blood should help turn that around. The big question is if Pete's poor leadership deflates the optimism before it has a chance to get going.

I am cutting him some slack; I'm telling him to clean up his Twitter feed before the KCR or Spec gets a hold of it. After last year's scandal we don't need this to happen again.

... aaand someone was indeed listening! Clay's Tweets are now protected. Good move. It's a good thing "no one" from the A.D. or the football office reads this blog, because Mr. or Mrs. "no one" gave him the heads up after reading this post.

Actually, I wrote to one of the coaches this morning before your post came out.

Can anyone give those of us in the dark an idea of what his tweets were about?

I just read a few of his tweets. The kid is a colorful character with colorful friends having fun. I didn't see anything out of the ordinary for a guy his age.

They may all be on twitter lockdown by now. Funny how that works. Past problems aside, the head coach walks with a hitch his ass is clenched so tight. It is obvious he fears this blog more than anything else going on the entire internet. His directives are being followed by his new stable of recruits to the letter.

Carry on young lads, be prepared, this is only the beginning!
