Added Walk-On?

A former star WR at a small Arizona high school is coming to Columbia this fall. The questions are: Will he play sports? Will he play football? Or will he play baseball?

His name is Matt Munsil http://archive.azcentral.com/sports/preps/articles/20131214matt-munsil-small-schools-player-year.html son of the current president of Arizona Christian University.

Matt took a gap year during which he did some touring of Europe. He was accepted here via regular admission.

Munsil is a great athlete. He was Player of the Year (Div. V, Arizona) in both football and baseball, first team All-State in both, batted an amazing .623 as a shortstop and pitched to a 1.00 ERA. If Boretti doesn't grab him I'm sure Bagnoli can use him (maybe both?). Good thing we have enough point guards, he also starred in basketball.

P.S. Archie Roberts managed to excel at both football and baseball, why not Matt Munsil?

I remain, very truly yours, Richard Szathmary said...

Has anyone ever deigned to actually ask this kid what HE wants? Otherise, it's just idle speculation.

I we asked him, it would probably be an NCAA violation. Sadly I am not kidding.

I think Munsil will be in the WR rotation early on and an all-Ivy down the road (gut feelin').
