Week One Picks

It's time for my picks for the week one games, both straight up and against the spread.

(Again I never pick the Columbia games for many obvious reasons).

San Diego +21 at Harvard

The Crimson are a very good team, but they often start a bit slow. I expect Harvard to win, but not by three TD's.

Lehigh -28 vs. Princeton

The Mountain Hawks are just getting warmed up and I don't expect the Tigers to be anywhere near ready to win games until much later this season.

Georgetown -6 1/2 vs. Yale

The Elis face so many challenges this year and the running game can only keep them close. The Hoyas should win by 7 or more.

Brown -1 at Holy Cross

Under Head Coach Phil Estes, the Bears are always strong out of the gate. And Holy Cross looks a bit weaker this season.

Cornell -7 at Fordham

Beautiful weather should make Jeff Mathews' passes fly ever so nicely. And I'm not sold on the Rams just yet.

Lafayette -7 vs. Penn

The Leopards look much improved and the Quakers have been starting slow the last few years.

Dartmouth -12 1/2 over Butler

Butler is not ready to win a road game against a solid Ivy team. Teevens has had his charges ready to play in the early weeks in recent years too.

STAY TUNED: my complete Marist game preview notes and analysis will be released this afternoon!
