With good pass protection I just can't understand the interceptions.

I do see that there is a huge size difference between the teams. The Big South Conference is bigger than I imagined. Standing next to Monmouth's players is unreal.

Monmouth 54 - CU 0, mid Q3

This may be historic, unless they pull their starters.

I feel horrible for the kids. This sucks for them.

Start of Q4

61 -7 Monmouth. They are 5 points away from breaking their all-time scoring record They have 13 minutes to do it.

Apropos of nothing much, but the Monmouth live feed is outstanding. Why can't CU provide the same? For all sports. What a great way to involve alums.

In garbage time we get another TD. Now 61-21. The bright spots are 1) maybe we have a more effective QB than Nottingham and 2) most points this year by triple. But who knows who we scored them on.

Anyway, the scoring was up and the passing was better, at least in the second half.

61 -28 Final

Thank God the O got to score some points, regardless of how or on whom. Also, they were passes, so maybe our receivers got some mush-needed confidence.

Anyway, another blow-out, but not nearly as demoralizing (at least for me) as the rest of them.

Also, I do believe we covered the spread for the 1st time this year

New low for Pete - we stink up the field for three quarters, and he tries to pad the stats against the 3rd string. Great job scoring four touchdowns against Monmouth's Freshman team. Keep rolling the turd in glitter.

My impressions are this team did not come into the game with their heads or hearts into it. Of course they were outmatched physically and every which way, they had to know this but there is more to it. From the start the defense lined up wrong, no one even noticed a wide out on the first TD close to the goal line. The worst kinds of mental mistakes happened, never mind the physical part of it. Very poor execution overall. I got the same impression from Nottingham. Time to sit him No one should be impressed by his performances to date. The OL is doing their part.

If Davidson and Georgetown can come into this season and be competitive, there are no excuses for this program to not do the same.

This is beyond belief! Can someone please tell me when enough is enough with this guy? Diane, make the change NOW so that we have something to look forward to at Homecoming.

We learned two things today... First, that we ARE consistent... consistently getting worse each week! Second, that our first team is very competitive with Monmouth’s THIRD team.

NHDC, are you guys watching this??? We told you what would happen last year. It is coming to fruition this year (surprise, surprise), so wake up and do something (that is, if Diane will allow you to do anything). You guys set the program back a decade. You are equally culpable. Forget it. Just stick to securing a golf outing site and having enough Grey Poupon for the event.

This embarrassing on so many fronts. I wish one of you would have a spine and resign in protest.

Open question:
Is McDonough as QB a better solutin for us?

Gents - let's not delude ourselves. Monmouth is a very good football team, but would likely lose to Yale or Harvard. We are not competitive. I have never seen CU play this badly. We have systemic failure. It is ridiculous to point fingers at any one player or unit. Fire Pete now.

The O-Line was doing what part? For 3 quarters they didn't show up. They were equally terrible! I say keep Nottingham as the starter.

Please note that these kids were simply not prepared. Yes, they were outmatched physically (every game this year, to be honest), but these coaches did not prepare them well at all. Hello, 4th and 26 in the 2nd quarter... most teams punt, however, not against our Lions... it became 1st and goal. Just terrible!!!

Let's blame Norries for "leaving the cupboard bare..." Let's blame Jake for telling the truth... How about you look in the mirror, Pete, and just resign. You failed and set this program back a decade! When you leave, your streak will be 0-22. Let's hope Diane has enough sense and will let you go at just 0-16. How ludacris that sounds... and that's how ridiculous we are!

We made a colossal mistake in running Norries Wilson out of town instead of just insisting that he replace his OC. This is the lowest ebb in the long history of Columbia football. Is it realistic to think that Mangurian will be replaced on Monday morning with Ray running the team on an interim basis for the rest of the year? Is it solely a talent issue, or do our kids just not want to play for this staff, or both? I can hear it now, that the three OOC teams were all ranked, etc., but we just haven't seemed prayed to mask our shortcomings with at least a modicum of preparation which would have made the games less lopsided? If there were any accountability Dianne and Pete should offer their resignations and of they refuse be fired Monday morning, if not tomorrow.

Maybe the Players should rally together and tell Diane that they give Pete a "no confidence" vote.

Moving on from Norries was the appropriate thing to do, replacing him with an insecure coach with terrible people and leadership skills was the mistake.

We needed a strong leaqder who was more organized and disciplined than Norries.

What was Dianne thinking!?!?

Despite how bad the team looked for three quarters (and it was very, very bad), the last quarter with McDonogh at the helm gave us some hope that we may have a chance against a slumping Penn team. By the way, #1 Lion, zero sacks, how 'bout that?
The D has overtaken the O in ineptitude, a sign of total collapse, but let's see if the offensive rally (never mind against whom) charges up the troops.

The OL is hardly the main issue. They are not great and outmatched but the playbook is for the most part weak, the QB looks lethargic with some exceptions, passes are dropped, opponents key in in Molina since he is the only guy they trust to hand the ball to, etc. Every QB in college football is under duress so we can stop bashing the OL and weight issue. It's not the only problem to dwell on.

It's an overall personnel/talent and coaching issue.

Can't fire Pete now. Ray would be even more of a disaster. No chemistry, just walking into the locker room mid season. No one on staff is qualified to take over either.

was not this a no confidence vote?
I saw KCR send out a quip from pete that the problem with the team is psychological. Somebody retorted that the problem with the team is Mangurian.
ultimately the problem with the team is the administration and pete.
If I were Tellier i would ask for a hoard of cash since even Jesus couldnt turn this swill into a fine wine.

on the interception front, it isnt hard to be near the ball when the qb is looking exactly where he is going to throw and that is for both QB's.

#1 Lion said...

Thank goodness for Padillia on the D-Line! Give me 10 players like him on both sides of the ball and we'll win!

It's funny that Pete says that the problem is psychological? A new excuse... Remember these are HIS kids that he recruited.

Debating how bad the O-Line is, is fruitless. Just look at how many darn yards we rush for when the game counted (and the other team"s band members weren't suiting up on the D-Line). Per Monmouth’s game notes, their defense held Columbia to 72 yards rushing (inclusive of their 3rd team playing in the 4th quarter). Monmouth’s defense held Nottingham to 5-of-10 passing for 32 yards and three interceptions before he was taken out. So please tell me again how well the O-Line played... These are statistics, not my opinion. If it were my opinion, I would simply blitz our left side of the line every play.

I feel that getting Pete out NOW would change the mindset of these kids, parents, and alums. Not sure where the NHDC stands on this, or if they are allowed to have an opinion (that matters), but for goodness sakes, this is embarrassing for the University.

I am sure that the caretakers of the program have a plan. Just remember, you were wrong with Tellier, you screwed up with Shoop, Norris was over his head, and Pete is a complete disaster who has set the program back further than all of his predecessors combined. Just think about that...
