Week 7 Picks

I had a perfect 7-0 week with my straight up picks, but another challenging Saturday against the spread going 3-3-1. One consolation was that I KNEW James Madison would beat Albany by exactly three points, but with no half-point in that 3-point spread I had to settle for a tie.

That brings my total record right now to 23-8 straight up and 15-14-1 against the spread.

On to this week's games:

Dartmouth +9 at Yale

This is such a big game for both teams that I think it will be close. Yale just seems like a real juggernaut right now and the Elis might even draw a nice crowd at the Bowl too. Yale to win, but the Big Green to cover.

Harvard -32 over Cornell

The Crimson are a bit banged up, but the Big Red will offer little in the way of resistance.

Fordham -24 1/2 over Penn

The Quakers look just plain lost, and now they have to take on the Rams in the Bronx.

Princeton -4 1/2 at Colgate

I think the Tigers woke up after that slow start against Columbia last week, and will finally be firing on all cylinders on Saturday. If not, the chances of a repeat title look pretty grim,

Brown + 2 1/2 over Holy Cross

The Bears will win by three or four.

Albany +9 vs. Richmond

The Spiders will win, but the Great Danes will make it close again.

Holy Cross may get the break they need. Brown doesn't have it together. Good personnel but not playing well as a team. Holy Cross may win that one.

With Penn, the wheels may have come off but they are still capable of putting up 20 or more points. They could cover.

I like Dartmouth to cover as well. Yale has had very good luck finishing teams off very late and this has the makings of that pattern as well. I haven't seen Dartmouth as much to know if their D is any decent. Yale's D will not bail them out.

I like Colgate to win. I have seen them a few times this season. They have a very strong running game and a talented D. Mr. Epperly will find his ego further deflated when he finds he cannot throw awkward balls into traffic and expect it to just work out because he is Mr. Epperly.

Fordham/Penn is of most interest to me. The score may provide some indication as to the relative strengths of CU vs. Penn.

^ probably not the game to benchmark. Penn is going to be so upset and tired of losing by the time they play Columbia they will not let that game get past them. They have not had a chance to get on track but man for man, they will find a way to beat Columbia one way or the other.

Never thought Dartmouth would do it.

Penn results give me hope, but Brown is looking tougher.

Cornell showed it's not a walk-over.
