Moment #1: Kept Out

With the score now Brown 22 Columbia 6 at the start of the 4th quarter, the Lions did not show any signs of giving up.

A Mike Waller interception just before the 3rd quarter ended got Columbia going on a drive that began at the CU 35.

QB Sean Brackett moved the team mostly by spreading his passes to four different receivers on an 11-play march that set the Lions up with a 1st and goal at the Bear two.

But a run for two lost yards, a holding penalty, and a sack pushed Columbia into a 4th down situation at the Brown 17 .

The Lions decided to go for it, but Brackett’s pass to WR Chris Connors fell incomplete.

That ended CU’s best TD threat of the day.

This final moment in the 100 Moment Countdown is fitting, because it embodied the core facts about Columbia football in 2012.

The team had good talent, improved play calling, and a good spirit. But too often when it really counted, it couldn’t cross the goal line.

Thank you for taking this 100 day journey with me as I recounted all the big moments of last season.

Now it’s on to this season and what we hope will be a lot more great memories of 2013.

Jake,
thanks for all the work you do . I hope that next year's 100 moments are a lot more positive than last year's.

Agree with joc/doc. And I am looking for Jake's keys to a Columbia win tomorrow. Look for Fordham to try to get to a fast start and to try to test our DBs right off the bat. The key for us is to get some pressure on their mobile QB right away, by keeping him from getting comfortable. I am not worried about our offense. We will score on them.

Suspect it will be high scoring tomorrow. Would be great if we could control the clock with Garrett, but I think Oldlion is right that they will test our DBs early and often.
