Moment #7: Quick Strike

After Marcorus Garrett’s thrilling 86-yard TD run, the Columbia defense kept up the pressure. On the fifth play of Cornell’s ensuing possession, Josh Martin sacked Big Red QB Jeff Mathews again and forced a fumble that Chad Washington recovered at the Cornell 22.

Then the offense wasted no time making the Red pay.

On the first play, QB Sean Brackett threw the ball toward the nearside southwest corner of the end zone and TE Hamilton Garner made a fantastic rolling grab of the ball for the score. For Garner, it would be his lone TD of 2012, but it was a stunner and suddenly Columbia had scored two touchdowns in a span of just one minute and 20 seconds.

There was more to come…

Person who posted score at the top of this thread must be watching another game. Fordham leads, 20-7, five minutes left in 3rd quarter. Fordham is clearly the better team today.

21-14 Fordham 3:00 to go in the 3rd. Temple brought their injured starting QB in the game and took them right down the field for the score.

Final 30-29 Fordham. Go Lions

Rams win; Lions know what they do when they're challenged.

I did not see all you anonymous "pundits" at today's scrimmage.
But, I saw a very accurate QB hit receivers all day in the first team offense vs the second string defense.
Has he sheriff of Nottingham arrived?
Can't wait until the game at 3 and 0 Fordham next week.

To doc/joc---tell us more, I wasn't able to be there.

Why wasn't the first team offense going against the first team defense?

Old Lion.

Anyone look good on the D against 1st team?
What about.1st team D against 2nd team O?
We need to put 4/5 DBs on the field that can stop the pass AND the run.

Old Lion,

Let's hope that there are no Robin Hoods out there.

Old Lion,
Sorry, I shouldn't be texting while driving.
My previous comments were for Joc/Doc.

Fordham 292#OL vs Lion 250# DL
Lion 261# OL vs Fordham 250# DL
Note: four Lion 230# DL skew average

Jake's weight comparison was based on earlier 2013 roster. If you compare to 2012 roster, Yukevich +21#, Thomas +9# and Lawrence +19#.

Fordham has nice uniforms, especially their away unis which looked very cool on ESPN3. Our game with them will be their Homecoming. Great opportunity for us, we will probably be three touchdown underdogs at least. Nebrich very talented, wears #12 like Nottingham. Both teams are loaded on offense (assuming our O-line performs well which I think it will)...defense will make the difference.

On the weight comparisons, for the DLs and OLs, let's concentrate on the two deep. Our DL is not small. Guys like Padilla, Washington, and Adebayo are all strong, fast guys. My concern is whether are LBs are big enough at the point of attack. As far as the OL, the question for me is not so much how it compares to Fordham's OL, but how it matches up with Fordham's front seven on defense, and whether it can protect #12.
