Down 17-7 with just under a minute left in the first half
vs. Cornell, Columbia was starting to look dead in the water.
But the Lions were just getting warmed up.
Trevor Bell got
things going with a 37 yard kickoff return out of the end zone.
The next eight plays were all passes, four of them for
completions by QB Sean Brackett. Two
of the receptions were by WR Connor
Nelligan for a total of 14 yards and the other two were by WR Chris Connors for a total of 22.
Connors’ second catch came with six seconds left and put the Lions at the Big
Red 27.
After a timeout, Luke
Eddy came in and booted an impressive 44-yard yard FG as time expired.
The spirited drive gave Columbia fans hope and it turned out
it was a great omen of things to come.
