Week 2 Picks

I started this 2013 season on a good note, going 2-0 against the spread and 2-0 straight up with my picks from last week.

On to week two:

CCSU + 15 1/2 at Lehigh

Central Connecticut State will not win this game, but I think this Lehigh team is getting too much credit for what it's done in years' past. I need to see more proof that the new QB and new WR corps without Ryan Spadola is good enough to roll up big points. Lehigh to win at home, CCSU to cover.

Fordham +13 1/2 vs. Villanova

Why is everyone suddenly so high on the Rams? Because the Fordham offense is lethal and a healthy Michael Nebrich at QB is a factor they didn't have last season. I still think Villanova will win this game, but I wouldn't be shocked if it goes the other way.

Liberty -12 1/2 vs. Monmouth

Monmouth is a pretty good team, but these long road trips are just not what the Hawks are used to. Liberty should be solid enough to win this by two TD's.

Any word on a scrimmage this year? Peculiar that we haven't heard anything.

Jake, maybe I just have an ancient and outdated anti-Fordham bias dating back to the 60s when we played basketball at Rose Hill and guys like Felsinger and Farber had to put up with some pretty ugly stuff, but isn't it the same Fordham offense that we saw last year? Where is the improvement? 'Nova just played BC tough. That is out of Fordham's league.

Nebrich is the big change... and Koonce is a 1,500 yard rusher who is uniquely built to burn us. Last year's Fordham offense got better as the year went along, but it had been mostly crafted for Nebrich and so it sputtered in the early weeks without him and that included the Columbia game.
