Moment #6: Connors Makes Another Miracle Catch
Chris Connors
After taking a 24-17 lead on TE Hamilton Garner's amazing TD grab, the Lion defense forced a three-and-out and then the offense responded with a respectable drive that ended in a 38 yard Luke Eddy FG and Columbia was now up 27-17 just a few seconds into the 4th quarter.
After another three-and-out for the now Jeff Mathews-less Cornell offense, the Lion offense got right back to work from its own 38.
A seven yard pass to Garner to get one 1st down, and a 14 yard run by Marcorus Garrett earned another before Columbia faced another 3rd down from the Big Red 27.
The Lions only needed four yards for a 1st down, but the offense decided to go for the knockout blow.
QB Sean Brackett tossed a pass for the northwest corner of the north endzone that seemed just a little bit overthrown. But WR Chris Connors would not be denied that day. He stretched into full horizontal mode and made a stunning TD catch that would be featured later that day on ESPN's SportsCenter.
You can see the amazing catch here.
The score was now 34-17 Columbia and the game was essentially over.
