Moment #17: Delaney’s Monster Punt

Paul Delaney when he was an All State punter for Illinois' Loyola Academy

Well, not every single moment of the week eight game at Harvard was a bad one.

With about 9:30 left in the 3rd quarter and the Lions trailing 48-0, Paul Delaney booted the second longest punt in Columbia history.

The kick went 73 yards before it finally rolled dead at the Harvard two yard line.

The punt obviously didn’t mean much as far as the outcome of the game, but it did exemplify the amazing season Delaney had in 2012.

Delaney is the toughest kicker or punter I have ever seen and it’s a great feeling to have him out on the field.

Let’s just hope he doesn’t have to work too hard this year!

Just a thought, but has Columbia ever considered free admission for all students and faculty, when presenting an ID card. This is a way to increase attendance, and I cant believe the Athletic Department relies on 5 home games for revenue for their football program...

"Football and basketball contests are free for current Columbia University, Barnard College and affiliate students with a valid ID."

As for faculty, they are entitled to the "Faculty Discount", which has cost the University the same amount of revenue as the "Big Foot Discount".

Hoping there are a few more 73 yarders in that leg. Punter is the 12th defender on a team. Delaney is one tough guy, you know him well Jake.
