Michael Nebrich
Yesterday turned out to be a busy day so let me get to it all in quick form:
WKCR sports did a nice job Tweeting some highlights from its interviews with Head Coach Pete Mangurian and some of the players. (You can read the Tweets for yourself by following @WKCRSports).
The highlights of the interviews were:
-The players expect Brett Nottingham to be the starter and are impressed by him, but Mangurian has not officially named a starter at QB yet.
-Speedy WR Scooter Hollis is playing with the first group of WR's, while Isaiah Gross is still recovering from his injury... but he's in the mix.
-Mangurian says he's being tougher on the offensive line than anyone else, but improvement takes time.
Opponent Results
The really big news last night was week one opponent Fordham beat Villanova 27-24 in the Bronx.
Ram QB Michael Nebrich led the way, going 26 for 35 for 190 yards passing with one INT. But it was Nebrich's running that killed the Wildcats. He rushed for 102 yards on 20 carries with two TD's.
'Nova also shot itself in the foot with five lost fumbles. And Fordham destroyed Villanova in the time of possession battle by a 17 minute margin.
Next up for the Rams is a big game against Temple at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.
Week four opponent Lehigh won a 51-44 thriller in double OT over Central Connecticut State.
The Mountain Hawks came back from a 37-17 deficit with 10:46 left in the 4th quarter.
The Lehigh offense was led by WR Lee Kurfis who had seven catches for 222 yards and two TD's. New QB Brandon Bialkowski was 18 of 29 for 366 yards with four TD's and two INT's.
But the Mountain Hawk defense gave up 258 net yards rushing.
Finally, week two opponent Monmouth was drubbed by Liberty 45-15.
Hawks QB Brandon Hill was a shaky seven of 17 for 97 yards, one TD and three INT's. RB Julian Hayes was held to 46 yards on 14 carries.
Liberty passed for 277 yards on just 22 attempts.
