Columbia never had a chance in its week eight game against
the Crimson at Harvard Stadium.
But there were a few key moments in the contest that turned
what would have been a regular rout into a historically horrific loss.
The first round of those moments came in rapid succession
early in the 2nd quarter.
Already trailing 14-0 with 13:23 left in the half, the Lions
took over at their own 25. But on 2nd down, QB Sean Brackett fumbled the ball away to the Crimson at the CU 27.
Five plays later it was 21-0 as Harvard score from the
Columbia eight.
On the ensuing possession, Brackett was intercepted by Chris
Splinter at the CU 33 and he returned it back to the one yard line.
One play later it was 28-0.
On the ensuing possession, QB Trevor McDonagh came in. But he threw a pick six on the very first
play to Connot Loftus who took it in from the Lion 15.
In less than four minutes, Columbia had committed three
turnovers that Harvard had converted into three TD’s.

Did Harvard beat the stuffing out of CU ; or did we shoot ourselves in both feet. The next week looked like an entirely different type of Lion.
I say: move on (and we get the Harvard game in NY.) Who owns New York?
We weren't ready to play. A complete breakdown. Disastrous move pulling Brackett instead of seeing if he would settle down. Not fair to the freshman to throw him into that spot. And Murphy could have held down the score by telling his scrubs to run out the clock. Pay back time, I hope.
