Getting to Know You...

My pre-Ivy Football media day 7-day series preparing everyone, (especially the members of the media, with what they need to know about every Ivy team other than Columbia), wraps up today with a look at Yale:

2012 Record: 2-8 (1-6 Ivy, 8th Place)

Coach: Tony Reno

Last Season in One Sentence: Yale predictably crash landed after the late firing of Tom Williams, late hiring of Tony Reno and some serious graduation losses despite the great play of transfer RB Tyler Varga.

Five Returning Yale Players You Need to Know: RB Tyler Varga, WR Chris Smith, DE Beau Palin, QB Eric Williams, and incoming Freshman LB Victor Egu

Big Losses: LB Will McHale, OT Roy Collins, DB Collin Bibb,

Big Questions: Will Yale be anything more than just the "Tyler Varga Show" this year? Is there a good starting QB somewhere in the mix? Will the super-hyped Egu, (you see, it IS possible to tout recruits and transfers over the summer), really make an impact?

Jake’s Overall Take: If you don't think it was a crazy year in the Ivies last season, just remember that league champion Penn's only loss was to the league last place team, Yale. The Bulldogs will be better this season, but Varga is stll the only serious threat on offense. The QB position seems particularly weak. This should be another long year in New Haven.
