Ivy Media Day Recording Now Posted

 Listen here

I thought Head Coach Pete Mangurian actually sounded pretty good and was a bit more informative than just about all the other coaches.

Sure, we heard the obligatory platitudes about every position being a competition and focusing on the team, etc.

But we also got good info some of the players making a run for open spaces, especially on defense.

I was expecting to hear Brian East's name for the open OLB slot, but Mangurian mentioned Max Keefe as well. Ray Pesanello and Vinny Pugliese seemed to get the nod as the frontrunners for the other open LB slot.

Although he's still listed as an offensive lineman on our roster page, Mangurian said Anthony Bonadies is in contention for a good look at the defensive tackle position in camp. He may have to work hard to stand out with fellow freshman William Carson coming in at the DT spot too.

The many comments about the secondary were interesting.

Kal Prince, who has already moved to WR from QB, is moving again to DB, which we didn't know until today.

Of course, Malcom Thaxton, Travis Reim, Marquel Carter and Jeremy Mingo were mentioned first, and I still think those guys are the most likely starters, with the possible exception of Mingo.

There was plenty of talk about freshmen at many different positions.

Allan Watson at RB got a mention, Brock Kenyon, Jared Katz and Nicholas Annabi art DB, and Cameron Nizialek at kicker.

And there was some good new info on Brett Nottingham and how the transfer process came to be.

And the detail he went into when he talked about Nottingham leads me to believe even more that he will be the starting QB this season... at least by week 3 when the Ivy schedule begins at Princeton.

I know Mangurian also spoke well of Kelly Hilinski and said that Trevor McDonagh is the starter going into camp... but listen to the way he spoke about Nottingham and you'll see what I mean.

We didn't hear any mention of Chad Washington or of the Twitter mess. That was to be expected. But I am more convinced than ever that Washington won't play for the Lions this year.

is anything meaningful ever said at these, other than some injury/recovery reports? of course, the poll of the media, who've not seen one practice, are unidentified, is the headline

Re Twitter issue, he did mention Chris Connors as one of our four top returning receivers. I think we can deduce that Connors will not be penalized for his twitters.

No, he mentioned Connor Nelligan. But Connors is not being suspended.
