Moment #42: Here Comes Dalyn

Dalyn Williams

With Columbia's week six Homecoming game against Dartmouth late in the 1st quarter, the Big Green got a break when Riley Lyons expertly punted the ball dead at the Lion two yard line.

Columbia seemed to respond by surrendering right away. Cameron Molina came in as the RB instead of Marcorus Garrett and he ran the ball twice for a total of two yards before QB Sean Brackett threw the ball incomplete on 3rd and 8.

Paul Delaney got a good punt off on 4th down, but it still left the Big Green with excellent field position at the Lion 45.

Freshman QB Dalyn Williams, who had been inserted into the game on the previous series, then got Dartmouth rolling.

Williams led the Green on a eight play drive that ended with him taking the ball into the end zone himself for a 7-0 lead.

The QB who would become the Ivy League Rookie of the Year for 2012 was beginning to get noticed.

Williams' game against Columbia was the first time Dartmouth people began thinking "That guy is special and should be starting."
