With Columbia now ahead 16-14 and with just 2:40 left to go
in the game, the Lions got a great kickoff from Luke Eddy, a good stop on the runback from Augie Braddock, and a penalty to pin the Big Green back on their
own nine yard line to start their final possession of the game.
Columbia’s excellent kick coverage was the last really good
news of the game for the Light Blue.
That’s because QB Alex Park WR Ryan McManus teamed up to
make mincemeat of the Lion defense just when it mattered most.
After an intitial incomplete pass to another receiver, Park
hooked up with McManus three straight times for a total of 48 yards.
Then Park, took off on a scramble for 13 yards to the CU 30.
Another pass to McManus followed to the Lion 15.
Three plays later, Park found Dean Bakes in the end zone for
what would be the winning score.
In one minute and 31 seconds, Dartmouth had gone 91 yards in
nine plays.

Reading this is like reliving a nightmare. Two big stops, against Penn and Dartmouth, and we would have had a really good season. Say what you will about our OL, it was the inability of the defense to make the big stop that hurt us the most last year.

It is like what I posted earlier. The receivers were "WIDE OPEN". Just sayin...
PS Are j/d and o/l the only guys reading this blog in August? Just sayin...
J/D is right about our pass defense. We bitch and moan about the O/L, and with justification, but our biggest problem last year was our pass defense. I attribute that in significant part to our inability to mount a consistent pass rush. Case in point is the Cornell game, in which we mounted a tremendous rush in the second half, drove Mathews from the game, and won going away.
Keep hearing horror stories about D backfield. Hope new blood can plug up some of the holes. Can't wait for practices to get started.
I'd say the dartmouth receiver spiking the bal for a 15 yard penalty was good news for the lions.
Mangurian has been very upbeat about the young DBs and the first years recruited as DBs.
