Moment #48: 4th Down Failure

Lyle Marsh

Even after three successive hard luck and horrific plays took place for Columbia on Penn's second possession of the 4th quarter, the Lions were not rolling over.

On a 3rd down and three play from the CU 31, LB Brian East nailed RB Jeff Jack in the backfield for a four yard loss setting up a 4th and 7.

A 52-yard FG attempt was out of the question, and the Quakers weren't going to punt.

But on that 4th and seven play, QB Billy Ragone calmly completed a 16 yard pass to RB Lyle Marsh to keep the drive alive.

Two plays later, Ragone completed another 16 yard pass, this time for a TD to make the score Columbia 20 Penn 17... and the tide had clearly turned.
