Columbia didn’t put together too many long drives in 2012,
so the way the Lions began their week seven game against Yale at Wien Stadium
was unusual to say the least.
Starting at their 18 after the opening kickoff, QB Sean Brackett and the Light Blue
came out firing with three straight pass completions for a total of 30 yards.
But six plays later, the Lions found themselves with a tough
4th and seven at the Eli 37. Throughout most of the season, Head
Coach Pete Mangurian had elected to
punt in these situations, but this time Columbia went for it.
On the play, Brackett’s pass to WR Jake Wanamaker fell incomplete but a Yale holding penalty gave the
Lions new life and a 1st down at the Bulldog 27.

That was our problem last year: 14 plays and over 6 minutes and all we got was 3points.
The offense has to be better this year!
