Columbia’s Homecoming game in week six against Dartmouth began
with a Lion three-and-out and a punt that gave the Big Green pretty good field
position at their 36.
And the Green were looking good churning out small to
moderate gains on every play until they were faced with a 2nd and 7
at the CU 39.
Then LB Mike Waller
got involved.
On the 2nd down play, he and DL Shad Sommers combined to drop Dartmouth
RB Brian Grove for a three yard loss, forcing a passing play on 3rd
and 10.
And that pass by QB Alex Park was picked off by… Mike Waller
at the Columbia 37.
Waller would finish the game with 13 tackles, including that
TFL with Sommers and the one INT. It was a strong performance for a senior
playing his final Homecoming game.

Waller was a playmaker. We need more like him.
